About The Position

At API, our FSO isn't one name in a large security department. You'll be the person who runs our NISP program, working directly with DCSA, our sponsors, and leadership. The role has real authority and real visibility. Your judgment will shape how a growing defense contractor safeguards its people, programs, and protected information. If you're an experienced FSO who wants ownership, takes pride in getting the details right, and catches the discrepancy before an inspector does, we want to talk to you.

Requirements

  • An active Secret clearance, and eligibility for a higher clearance if needed
  • Hands-on experience with NISPOM and government contracting security requirements
  • 3–5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Confidence working independently, with strong communication skills for briefings and reports
  • A track record with DCSA assessments

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of the CDSE FSO Program Management course, or ISP certification
  • Prior COMSEC custodian experience
  • Exposure to RMF and eMASS

Responsibilities

  • Lead our security program in compliance with NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), partnering with DCSA on inspections, security reviews, and SVAs.
  • Write and maintain the Standard Practice Procedures (SPP), and set the security culture for the facility.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of cleared personnel in NISS, DISS, eApp, NBIS, and DIAS, including processing, briefings, debriefings, and reporting.
  • Design and deliver security education and training to employees, customers, and sponsors.
  • Serve as COMSEC Custodian, accounting for all COMSEC material and its movement.
  • Conduct self-inspections, administrative inquiries, and incident investigations; generate and submit reports.
  • Partner with our ISSM/ISSO through every phase of the RMF process, and review and approve contingency plans.
  • Participate in the Insider Threat Committee, and oversee visits, access control, badging, and secure work area requirements.
  • Manage safeguarding requirements for secure areas.
  • Own and renew PO Box access annually, and send and retrieve documents and packages as needed.
