About The Position

The Facility Operator supports the daily operation, monitoring, inspection, basic upkeep, and cleaning of critical facility utility and environmental systems (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, compressed air, HVAC, dust/fume collection, pumps, and related equipment) that enable continuous 24/7 battery manufacturing. This entry-level role focuses on following standard operating procedures (SOPs), performing routine tasks, maintaining 5S standards, and assisting the utility crew. Operators will develop basic electrical awareness while working under close supervision to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated reliable work history and consistent attendance in prior employment.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency call-ins.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment (previous 24/7 manufacturing experience is a plus).
  • Basic electrical knowledge or experience such as awareness of electrical safety, familiarity with common electrical hazards in industrial settings, or prior exposure to motors, controls, or simple electrical systems (e.g., through vocational training, previous manufacturing roles, or personal/hands-on experience).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation, routine maintenance, and utility systems.
  • Prior exposure to utility systems (HVAC, compressed air, or similar) or high-tech manufacturing environments (battery, semiconductor, or chemical).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Willingness to learn more is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions and SOPs.
  • Must be a reliable team player with a positive work ethic and good communication skills.
  • Familiarity with basic tools, gauges, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while monitoring automated equipment in a continuous production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational certificate or associate degree in mechanical, industrial maintenance, or related field.
  • Understanding of 5S methodology and safety protocols in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation and monitoring of utility equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, compressed air systems, pumps, and HVAC units under the direction of the Shift Lead or senior technicians.
  • Perform routine checks on system parameters (temperature, pressure, flow) and report any abnormal readings or alarms promptly.
  • Support basic tasks such as material input, filter changes, lubrication, and simple adjustments following established SOPs and work instructions.
  • Recognize and report basic electrical issues, such as tripped breakers, unusual motor sounds, warning lights on control panels, or simple electrical alarms.
  • Assist with basic electrical-related tasks under supervision, such as resetting approved controls, checking power supplies to equipment, or supporting lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for electrical systems.
  • Follow electrical safety protocols and understand fundamental concepts like electrical hazards, proper grounding, and the importance of de-energizing equipment before maintenance.
  • Conduct visual and routine inspections of equipment; identify obvious issues and escalate to the Shift Lead or supervisor.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in accordance with 5S3R principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain – Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container).
  • Perform cleaning tasks on designated equipment and surrounding areas during downtime or per cleaning SOPs.
  • Accurately record operating data, inspection results, and maintenance activities in the Equipment Management System (EMS) or CMMS as instructed.
  • Track basic non-conformances, scraps, or equipment observations and report them to the supervisor.
  • Strictly follow all health, safety, environmental, and fire regulations, including proper use of required PPE.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the utility crew; assist with tasks as assigned by the Facility Shift Lead.
  • Participate in cross-training, continuous improvement initiatives and skill development programs designed to build technical competency and support potential advancement to Facility Technician positions.
  • Participate in safety briefings, 5S audits, and quality checks.
  • Support housekeeping, material handling, and general facility support activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Learn and follow operating manuals, SOPs, and safety procedures.
  • Respond to basic abnormal conditions by notifying the Shift Lead immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support facility reliability and production goals.
