About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, CMC, the contract Facility Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of ALX Oncology’s South San Francisco office and laboratories. This role will oversee facility maintenance, workplace services, safety, security, permitting, vendors, and general office operations to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained workplace. The contract Facility Manager will work closely with employees, leadership, property management, vendors, landlords, local regulatory officials, and service providers and will collaborate cross-functionally with HR, IT, Finance, and Operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, service-minded, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, small-company environment. This is a 6 to 12-month contract assignment offering approximately 40 hours per week. The anticipated pay rate is approximately $50-$65 per hour, depending on skills and depth of experience. This position requires onsite presence at ALX’s South San Francisco office Monday – Wednesday, as well as availability to be onsite as needed during the remainder of the workweek, and on weekends to support facility needs. Given the nature of the role, the contract Facility Manager / Sr. Manager may also need to be onsite before normal business hours or after employees have left for the day to coordinate facility activities and respond to operational needs.

Requirements

  • Facilities, office operations, or workplace management experience, including responsibility for day-to-day building and workplace operations in a biotechnology or life sciences company.
  • Experience managing facility-related vendors, service providers, local regulatory officials, and property management relationships.
  • Experience maintaining facility documentation, service records, contracts, permits, and compliance-related files.
  • Experience with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and workplace safety practices.
  • Experience with office space planning, workstation setup, furniture moves, and related workplace projects.
  • Experience with building access, security badge systems, and visitor procedures.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and service-minded.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, small-company environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee facility maintenance, workplace services, safety, security, permitting, vendors, and general office operations.
  • Ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained workplace.
  • Manage facility-related vendors, service providers, local regulatory officials, and property management relationships.
  • Maintain facility documentation, service records, contracts, permits, and compliance-related files.
  • Manage Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and workplace safety practices, and ALX staff training, including supporting compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Oversee office space planning, workstation setup, furniture moves, and related workplace projects, including office buildouts, relocations, and the coordination of lab equipment moves and calibration.
  • Manage workplace services to ensure conference rooms, common areas, kitchens, employee workspaces, and other shared spaces are functional, well-maintained, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manage building access, security badge systems, and visitor procedures, including coordinating access, workspace setup, and equipment needs associated with employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve facility operations, workplace services, and operational efficiency.
