About The Position

The Facility Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of water district buildings and structures. This role involves performing various general maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, and plumbing, as well as transporting materials and equipment for projects. The technician is expected to lead work crews, identify necessary materials and labor, and manage projects from start to finish. Key aspects include upholding safety standards, maintaining a clean work environment, interacting with other TRWD personnel, and participating in after-hours emergency response and on-call rotations. The position also involves data entry for work orders and timekeeping, reporting maintenance issues, participating in condition assessments, and contributing to continuous improvement and innovation efforts.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of facility maintenance or a related field
  • Ability to identify materials and labor necessary for an assigned task or project
  • Ability to lead others and be responsible for the start and finish of assigned projects
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Good communication skills
  • Influence and motivation of others
  • Be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Be able to work within and promote a team environment
  • Uphold safety standards
  • Clean and organized work environment
  • Computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field
  • Participation in a building trade apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Trade school accreditations totaling two (2) years in a related field
  • Associate degree or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks, such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, and other general maintenance on TRWD buildings, structures, and grounds
  • Transporting materials and equipment for maintenance projects
  • Responsible for the start and finish of assigned projects including, but not limited to, leading work crews and identifying materials and labor needed
  • Perform data entry for work orders and for timekeeping
  • Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean work environment
  • Interact and coordinate with other TRWD personnel
  • After hours Emergency Response
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Report maintenance or structural issues to department supervisor
  • Participate in applicable condition assessments
  • Maintain familiarity with strategic district levels of service
  • Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
  • Identify training budget needs
  • Performance review alignment
