Facility Maintenance Specialist (Wilsonville)
About The Position
The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating, instructing, and training Adults in Custody (AICs) in the operation, maintenance, and repair of facility systems, equipment, and building structures within a correctional environment. You will perform journey-level maintenance and repair work across multiple trades while leading AIC work crews in both skilled and semi-skilled tasks. Work includes maintaining physical plant systems, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring buildings and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and compliant with established standards. As the Facility Maintenance Specialist you will provide hands-on instruction, assign and monitor work, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely. This position requires strong technical knowledge across building systems and the ability to communicate expectations clearly while maintaining accountability in a structured environment. You will play a key part in supporting facility operations while also contributing to skill development for AIC workers through practical, supervised work experience.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of: a) general building maintenance; b) carpentry; c) electrical; d) mechanical; e) painting; or f) plastering experience.
- A journeyman's license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for this experience.
- Experience working in a correctional, institutional, or industrial setting.
- Experience training or supervising individuals in a structured environment.
- Knowledge of safety practices, building systems, and maintenance procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
- Must complete an I-9 and confirm authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.
