The Facility Maintenance Specialist oversees and executes general maintenance and repairs for all Food Bank facilities. This position is a temporary-to-permanent role, with the opportunity for full-time employment based on performance during the first 90 days.

Requirements

  • High school/GED required, Post high school education strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude/skills.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a facility specialist or technician in a combined warehouse and office setting.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working in one of the following disciplines: plumbing, HVAC, and/or electrical.
  • Must have a valid NC Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Must believe in the mission of the organization.
  • Must be able to operate a scissor lift.

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly prefer certifications/licenses in one of the following disciplines: plumbing, HVAC, and electrical.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate organizational maintenance tasks – (100%) Utilizing the Work Order tool and input from supervisor Manager, determine facility maintenance issues, and organize priorities.
  • Conduct work in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Work with lead warehouse staff, Facilities Maintenance Manager, and Operations Manager at each branch to ensure facilities and equipment are maintained in acceptable working order.
  • Work with Facilities Manager to decide appropriate vendors and negotiate costs and obtain written estimates when applicable.
  • Ensure all powered tool equipment is kept in good working order and accounted for, with operating instructions, and provide training for staff.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and Food Bank standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all hazardous materials are kept in appropriate storage and any relevant SDS documentation is retrieved and filed appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
