About The Position

Work as a Facility Survey Consultant in the Adult Care Licensure Section involves regulatory activities to determine compliance with state requirements for assisted living facilities and overnight respite programs. Job responsibilities include: •Work both independently or as a member of a professional health care team conducting on-site inspections of licensed adult care homes and overnight respite programs to determine the facility’s compliance with licensure rules and statutes. •Analyzing survey findings and determining compliance with applicable rules and statutes then documenting findings in a legally defensible manner. •Providing technical assistance to facilities and potential providers. •Providing regulatory oversight and technical assistance to county Department of Social Services (DSS) staff. •Position duties involve significant oral and written communication with facilities, staff and public. Position will be home-based in the Central Region of the state and applicants should reside in Guilford, Forsyth, Surry, Randolph or contiguous counties, as position requires frequent travel, sometimes on short notice within these counties, including occasional overnight stays. A state vehicle shall be used for travel purposes, when available. Use of personal vehicle may be required and compensated at the NC Office of State Budget and Management’s established mileage rate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, human service, or educational related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or Bachelor’s degree, in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional knowledge of social work or human services and practices including the use of medical terminology, disease process and body systems, and current clinical diagnostic procedures and treatments, and skills in applying this knowledge during an inspection.
  • Professional knowledge of the delivery of care and services in a long-term care setting, including assessment and care planning; ancillary services such as home health, hospice, and mental health care; and residents’ rights.
  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Ability to conduct, gather, review, organize, problem solve, assess, and evaluate information for compliance with applicable rules and statutes while considering the difference in situations and facilities' organization and culture.
