About The Position

The City of Rohnert Park is currently looking to fill two (2) Part-Time Facility Attendant positions. Duties include set-up and breakdown of tables and chairs for meetings and events, providing customer service assistance to renters and instructors, and providing information regarding Community Services programs. Weekly hours range from 10 – 20, depending on programming and rentals. This position is an "at will", non-benefited position that is limited to 1,000 hours in a fiscal year, from July 1st through June 30th. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are a CalPERS retiree, you may not work for the City of Rohnert Park more than 960 hours per fiscal year, nor in a regular, permanent position. Work assignments must be temporary (typically limited to 12 months).

Requirements

  • Sufficient education, training and/or experience to perform the duties of a Part-Time Facility Attendant.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Prior work experience dealing with the public and custodial-related work is desirable.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Possession of a valid Class C Driver's License and a good driving record.
  • Valid CPR Certificate must be obtained within 90 days of appointment date.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Knowledge of recreational programs and activities offered by the Community Services Department
  • Knowledge of capabilities of facility
  • General knowledge of custodial work and safe use of products
  • Basic first aid, CPR and AED
  • English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation
  • Basic customer service
  • Basic math and record keeping
  • Skill to safely lift and move items such as chairs, tables and recreational equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Ability to become familiar with and enforce safety rules and procedures and regulations regarding the use of public facilities
  • Ability to perform manual work requiring physical strength, agility and endurance
  • Ability to deal courteously with the public under a wide variety of circumstances
  • Ability to prepare reports regarding work activities
  • Ability to perform basic computer and cash register operations
  • Ability to learn and utilize new technology

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience dealing with the public and custodial-related work is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Opens and closes facilities for scheduled functions and activities
  • Performs set up and take down of facilities' equipment such as tables and chairs
  • Provides staff support for special events and recreation programs
  • Issues athletic and recreational equipment
  • Ensures equipment is returned in proper condition
  • Provides for the needs of the user/renter of the facility
  • Performs light maintenance including litter pick up, light janitorial work, sweeping and emptying trash receptacles; reports any damages or repairs needed
  • Provides customer service, answers the telephone, gives out information regarding the facility schedule, and answers questions regarding a variety of Community Services' activities
  • Takes and renews memberships, collects user fees, checks members into various activities, sells pro-shop merchandise, enters sales into the cash register and prepares credit card transactions
  • May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker in the event of a disaster or emergency
  • Performs related duties as assigned
