About The Position

Education Department at Driftpile Cree Nation is currently seeking to fill a job position of a full time Facilities Attendant. The Facilities Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment within the school greenhouse and Learning Services office. This position performs routine cleaning, maintenance, organization, and facility support duties to ensure spaces are well-maintained, welcoming, and conducive to learning and staff productivity.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in custodial services, facilities maintenance, greenhouse operations, horticulture, or a related field.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (asset).
  • WHMIS or equivalent safety training (asset).
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must undergo a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

Responsibilities

  • Prepare growing media, plant bulbs, seeds and cuttings, graft and bud plants, set transplants out onto the rooting media, and transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings
  • Operate greenhouse water irrigation systems
  • Dig, harvest, transplant and prepare plants for harvesting
  • Provide information and advice to students and school staff on gardening and the care of plants
  • Maintain inventory and order materials as required
  • Clean work areas
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the operations of greenhouse in conjunction with the school teaching staff
  • Establish the environmental conditions required to grow plants, and design planting and care schedules accordingly
  • Determine type and quantity of stock to grow
  • Facilitate planting, transplanting, feeding and spraying stock
  • Identify and control insect, disease and weed problems
  • Order materials such as fertilizer, garden equipment, and other nursery and greenhouse related accessories
  • Maintain records on stock
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations on plant care, gardening techniques, and product selection
  • Clean and sanitize offices, meeting rooms, workspaces, and common areas as needed
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces
  • Empty garbage and recycling containers and dispose of waste appropriately
  • Clean and restock washrooms, kitchens, and staff areas as required
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows, doors, furniture, and equipment
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or repair needs promptly
  • Assist with room setup and rearrangement for meetings, training sessions, or events, specifically for the Learning Services Office
