Facility Attendant
About The Position
Merakey is seeking a Facility Attendant for its Fresh Start transitional housing program in Kensington, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fresh Start provides 24/7 support to veterans and people with histories of homelessness, chemical dependency, and/or behavioral health issues. The programs operate across 12 Philadelphia locations and partner with the Philadelphia VA Medical Centers and the Philadelphia Office of Addiction Services. Some self-pay housing options are also available. The Facility Attendant monitors resident behavior and helps maintain a safe, harassment-free atmosphere conducive to recovery. The role includes conducting building checks for cleanliness and safety, including all rooms; reporting incidents according to Merakey policy; monitoring residents as they take prescribed medication and escalating medication-monitoring issues; overseeing assigned chores when applicable; ensuring general inspections are completed properly; and completing required training within mandated time frames. The position pays $17.63 per hour and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in a residential or drug and alcohol treatment setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents' behavior and help ensure a safe, harassment-free atmosphere conducive to recovery.
- Conduct building checks for cleanliness and safety, including checks of all rooms.
- Write incident reports, immediately report incidents to the supervisor or program manager, and follow Merakey procedures and policies.
- Monitor residents while they take prescribed medication and report medication-monitoring issues to the immediate supervisor, following Merakey incident-report policy.
- Monitor assigned chores, if applicable, and ensure general inspections are completed properly.
- Complete assigned training within mandated time frames.
