About The Position

Assist in the management of staff and customers at a multi-function recreation facility, including a swimming pool, racquetball courts, meeting/activity rooms, gymnasium, weight room, climbing wall, and aerobics room. This facility is over 72,000 square feet and serves an average of 1000 guests daily. The City of Wheat Ridge is committed to excellence and ACTION! Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience related to facility operations is preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge to use office equipment, facility and equipment operations, first aid techniques, and basic math.
  • Working knowledge of recreation operations and philosophy.
  • Ability to learn the computerized registration program, RecTrac, and operate it with intermediate knowledge and understanding of the software.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Effectively handle emergency situations.
  • Follow rules concerning facility operations such as usage policies, emergency procedures, personnel supervision, revenue receipt, and accounting.
  • Awareness and ability to react to unusual or suspicious activity or persons that may cause potential harm or danger and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons visiting or contacting Wheat Ridge recreation facilities.
  • Respond to facility complaints, referring unusual situations to the Recreation Supervisor-Facilities.
  • Ensure recreation facility operation and maintain facilities in a clean, neat, and safe manner.
  • Maintain discipline in assigned areas.
  • Handle routine requests with building vendors/contractors including janitorial, electrical, and property management.
  • Work closely with aquatic staff for coordinated facility management.
  • Assist in facility supervision of locker rooms, meeting/activity rooms, and fitness rooms.
  • Generally assigned to work the front counter or other control areas of the Recreation Center.
  • Assist with pre-school and child care registration, and possess general knowledge of recreation programs and operations.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Use online scheduling software to accept work assignments and maintain availability.
  • Write incident reports in the event of injuries or property loss.
  • Manage daily cash control operations, opening/closing, and patrolling the facility.
  • Facilitate class registration in the RecTrac registration system, including trip registrations.
  • Reconcile money received with general ledger reports; process activity refunds, transfers, and household credits.
  • Perform room set up and tear down as needed.
  • Perform basic light janitorial duties of the facility as required.
  • Perform related work as required and assigned.
