About The Position

The Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, is seeking a Facility and Safety Manager. This role is responsible for the maintenance and care of MERC facilities, including plumbing, HVAC, lawn care, building structure, and repairs. The position also involves performing routine regulatory audits and maintaining safety training. The Facility and Safety Manager works under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
A high school diploma and 15 years of directly related experience; OR an undergraduate degree in business, or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 8 years' directly related experience.
Requires a high degree of proficiency and knowledge of facility maintenance and/or construction.
Requires a working knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Conducts routine safety assessments and ensures OSHA regulatory compliance.
Leads incident investigations and directs preventative training to protect employees and minimize operational risks.
Oversees daily workflow, scheduling, and assignment of facility maintenance tasks.
Responsible for maintenance of assigned facilities' needs or obtains quotes for maintenance.
Oversees maintenance of building and grounds.
Provides recommendations for facility improvements and maintenance.
Maintains positive ongoing communication with service contractors.
