About The Position

Reports to the Parks and Recreation Director. Requires a valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance. Responsible for the daily operations of the Coronado Center, Ouachita Activities Building, and Woodlands Auditorium. Assists with scheduling activities, programs, and meetings at the Coronado Center and Ouachita Activities Building.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
  • Frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and complete event and meeting set-ups and take downs.
  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and other applications.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates meetings, activities, events, and programming opportunities at facilities.
  • Maintains records including daily reports, events, payment of bills, calendars, statistics, and other requested reports.
  • Supervises scheduling and training of staff, maintenance of all equipment (including audio and video), and ordering/inventory of office supplies and liquor.
  • Supervises and operates the front of house at the Woodlands Auditorium.
  • Prepares, implements, and monitors budgets, capital improvements, and long-range planning for facility needs.
  • Ensures proper setup of rental spaces, tables, equipment, coffee, etc., in accordance with patron requests and facility capabilities.
  • Ensures cleanliness of facilities and correct setup/takedown of meetings and events.
  • Supervises rentals of Parks and Recreation outdoor facilities, including pavilion rentals, RV Park, Grove Park, Desoto Multi-purpose Hall, and other assigned recreational facilities.
  • Works with organization and member representatives regarding programs, scheduling, pricing, and assists in creating stable, satisfying programming for the community.
  • Maintains harmony among employees and resolves grievances.
  • Works nights, weekends, and/or holidays when required.
  • May be required to drive a POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service, accommodating customer needs.
  • Ensures the safety of patrons and staff through accident prevention and safety policies, enforcing all facility and recreation location rules and regulations.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, and operational use regarding POA amenity use.
  • Maintains a safe, clean amenity/facility at all times.
  • Directly supervises employees at Coronado Community Center, Ouachita Activities Building, and Woodlands Auditorium.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Works directly with other divisions to coordinate rental facility needs and programming.
