About The Position

Coordinates accounting and record keeping components as required to be in compliance with the center’s licensing agency. Coordinates daily functions and educational activities for the children care center.

Requirements

  • Knowledge generally acquired through completion of four year college program, BA or BS Degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or related field; or a combination of work experience in an educational or child care setting and college coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Work experience and training in supervising, as well as, a minimum of one year experience in providing care for children in a group setting.
  • Incumbent must successfully meet the requirements indicated in the Code of Virginia and obtain and successfully complete the required background checks per the Code of Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and greets parents.
  • Supervises staff, overseeing morning/evening staff and routine.
  • Coordinates special staff events.
  • Types copies and files correspondence.
  • Supervises the performance of Teacher I’s, Teacher Assistants and Classroom Aids and completes required performance appraisals.
  • Prepares and arranges educational materials.
  • Performs functions to safeguard children’s wellness and safety.
  • Obtains certification in administering medication, administers medication and documents same.
  • Reports accidents and completes incident reports.
  • Reports/Escalates safety issues and concerns according to departmental guidelines to internal service vendors or outside service vendors for correction or resolution.
  • Documents and follows up until resolved.
  • Performs functions consistent with Infection Control requirements and guidelines regarding exclusion for ill/symptomatic children, cleaning and disinfecting practices and insures compliance within the facility.
  • Assists with scheduling training and development opportunities for staff regarding prevention of spread of infection, proper food handling safety, appropriate and required disinfecting practices, child related continuing education required for all associates and additional required trainings as assigned through regulatory agencies.
  • Obtains and maintains certification for food handling safety through an approved agency through the Virginia Department of Health and provides education and feedback to ensure all associates are following proper food handling practices.
  • Obtains and maintains certification in Daily Health Observation to assess children’s health and wellness to be included in the care day.
  • Obtains certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Answers phones, records messages and refers calls.
  • Follows up on parent concerns and service recovery initiatives.
  • Documents same.
  • Implements and models World Class service.
  • Establishes and maintains all records, financial and health related, on all children.
  • Coordinates payroll deduction for all childcare fees.
  • Collects fees from non-payroll deducted families and deposits according to tuition fee policies.
  • Plans, implements and distributes monthly themed curriculum to all centers.
  • Coordinates materials orders for curriculum and classroom requirements.
  • Maintains stock inventory for food services, housekeeping needs and general care services and advises on weekly replenishment needs to the appropriate party.
  • Coordinates monthly theme meeting with staff at all centers.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the children served.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the children’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each child’s age requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the departmental policies and procedures.
