About The Position

The Facility Technician is responsible for overseeing the operations of plant and facilities equipment, while providing focused support for renovations, facility upgrades, retrofits, modernizations, and repairs. This position will primarily operate on a Monday-to-Friday schedule, with flexibility for the Manager to adjust the schedule to Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday as needed to align with holidays and operational requirements. Please note, this opportunity is an on-site work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Technical diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment such as ISO13485 or AS9100 preferred
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment is desirable
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment an advantage but not mandatory
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Work on the installation of critical facility infrastructure
  • Monitor and troubleshoot systems such as HVAC, compressed air, water purification systems, building management systems and environmental monitoring systems
  • Act as first level escalation for facilities equipment failures
  • Design and install fixtures, equipment and infrastructure to improve manufacturing processes
  • Gather and assess data and reports to develop conclusions that guide decision-making and planning processes
  • Support facility expansions and layouts
  • Assess utilities and operational setups to optimize operational efficiencies
  • Prepare facility reports and compliance records
  • Oversee contractors handling maintenance tasks
  • Follow facility regulations, safety standards and building codes
  • Predict problems or risks and develop plans to avoid or mitigate them
