About The Position

The City of Wilmington is seeking a Part Time Facilities Specialist to work weekends. This position involves performing a wide range of landscape maintenance tasks, completing custodial duties, and removing trash and debris to ensure a welcoming environment. The role requires operating various hand and power tools, interacting with citizens, and providing customer service. Additionally, the technician will assist with preparing grounds for special events, support cleanup efforts following natural disasters, and help other departments as needed.

Requirements

Ability to read and understand written instructions.
Ability to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines.
No experience is required.
Class C Driver’s License.
Ability to work before, during, and after emergencies and/or natural disasters.
Basic computer literacy as necessitated for timekeeping, performance documentation and online training.
Driving and criminal history checks required.
Selected candidate will also be required to complete a post-offer drug screen, driving and background check.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance by picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and shelters, removing trash cans, watering, and fertilizing.
Provide customer service to the public by working with citizens to meet their needs.
Assist with special projects by setting up for events, and assisting with natural disaster clean up.
Operate various hand and power tools commonly used in parks and landscape upkeep.
Assist other departments as needed to ensure seamless operations across the City.
