About The Position

The City of Lee’s Summit Central Building Services team is looking for an experienced Electrician to help keep the City's buildings, equipment, and operations powered up and running safely. Under the general supervision of the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Manager, the Electrician performs a variety of skilled electrical maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction activities throughout City facilities. This is a hands-on position that offers variety and the opportunity to work on a wide range of municipal buildings, systems, and equipment. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, performing electrical maintenance and installations, supporting remodeling, renovation, and construction projects, maintaining electrical equipment and building systems, diagnosing problems, performing preventive maintenance, and working with City staff, contractors, and suppliers to maintain City facilities and ensure they remain safe, reliable, efficient, and operational.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician required.
  • Five or more years of experience in the electrical maintenance field.
  • Five years of combined experience in two or more required trades.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator's License and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be a United States citizen or authorized alien worker.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Master Electrician preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of computer-controlled energy management and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of construction and remodeling practices.
  • Knowledge of building, electrical, and fire codes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and workmanship.
