About The Position

This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of facilities and HVAC equipment, including preventative maintenance. The technician will manage work orders, input data into the maintenance computer system, and order necessary parts. They will work with various systems such as Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Cooling systems, and must adhere to TIE and TPM concepts. Additionally, the position involves assisting with plant layout changes, coordinating contractors, ensuring facility infrastructure meets new equipment requirements, and conducting capacity studies for mechanical systems. The role also supports the company's environmental goals (ISO-14001) and quality standards (IATF-16949), coordinates outside contractors for facilities and grounds work, performs general maintenance tasks like painting and repairs, and maintains internal telephone equipment. Ensuring work areas meet 5S standards is also a key responsibility. The technician must also follow all procedures, report non-conformances, and actively participate in the company's Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with vocational training or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of building mechanical systems.
  • Training in the maintenance and repair of industrial HVAC systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to read blueprints/schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs or coordinates the repair of facilities and HVAC equipment to include the cooling tower, air compressor, dryers, water softeners and other related systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Completes orders from the work order system.
  • Inputs data into the maintenance computer.
  • Orders special parts.
  • Uses all maintenance area equipment.
  • Follows TIE and TPM concepts.
  • Works with Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC and Cooling system.
  • Complies with IATF-16949.
  • Trains staff on use of scissor lift.
  • Assist with plant layout changes by coordinating contractors and ensures facility infrastructure meets layout requirements in regards to new equipment, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and structural needs.
  • Ensures accurate work order entry.
  • Ensures the capacity of current mechanical systems through the completion of capacity studies.
  • Supports the company's efforts to meet ISO-14001 environmental requirements.
  • Coordinates the work of outside contractors for facilities and grounds related work.
  • Performs facility and grounds maintenance including painting, replacing ceiling tiles, miscellaneous repairs and general clean up.
  • Maintains internal telephone equipment.
  • Ensures work areas meet 5S standards.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Follows all procedures and work instructions and makes recommendations to improve the process.
  • Notifies Leader immediately upon detecting any non-conformances.
  • Records all non-conformances to ensure corrective action and preventative measures are taken and assist in the problem solving process.
  • Communicates and practices DMNC’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Takes an active role in achieving and maintaining IATF-16949 and ISO-14001.
