About The Position

Under the immediate supervision of the Facilities Director, and the general direction of the Pastor and Business Manager, is responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of Parish buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position is scheduled for working evenings for approximately 3 to 4 hours each evening, the days to be determined. Work will include setup/tear-down of parish/school functions, events, and activities, as well as accomplishment of minor maintenance and janitorial tasks.

Requirements

  • Must have valid State driver’s license.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and auto insurance meeting diocesan minimum requirements.
  • Experience with building, ground, and/or industrial maintenance.

  • Knowledge of various electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, and building systems
  • Ability to diagnose and perform minor mechanical repairs
  • Good mechanical aptitude and familiar with construction
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of cleaning/janitorial equipment and supplies and their safe use and storage
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Must be personable and able to converse intelligently and work effectively with contractors, parishioners, and staff.
  • Ability to effectively lead and coordinate the activities of staff, contractors, and volunteers

Responsibilities

  • Accomplish required setup/teardown tasks as directed by the Facilities Director
  • Perform daily/weekly cleaning of the Parish Hall ensuring restrooms are tidy and fully stocked
  • Perform various routine maintenance and repairs
  • Comply with chemical handling laws and safety regulations as required; maintain a safe work environment
  • Accomplish end-of-day closing tasks to ensure campus buildings are secured and alarms properly set
  • Keep parish and school grounds and buildings neat and clean
  • Provide excellent customer service to co-workers, staff, parishioners, and visitors
  • Complete special projects as may be assigned by the Facilities Director
  • Review the daily facility setup schedule to ensure setups are accomplished in a timely manner
  • Accomplish work orders as assigned by the Facilities Director
  • Maintain the tidiness, appearance, and proper stocking of housekeeping closets as needed
  • Maintain awareness of daily campus events/activities, and take appropriate action to escalate internally or externally, any safety and/or security issues/concerns
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by the Facilities Director
  • Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.
