About The Position

This position is responsible for utilizing specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation. The role involves performing routine and non-routine facility inspections, monitoring cleanliness, and troubleshooting, escalating, and documenting issues according to established policies. The technician will also receive, inspect, inventory, and distribute deliveries independently, and assist trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance. Occasional after-hours call-ins on weekdays and weekends, as well as assistance with snow removal for the Grounds Department, are required. The role may also involve occasional asbestos-related work, including sample collection, containment for analysis, and small-scale glove-bag removals.

Requirements

  • Read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Use of computer, smartphone, and laptop
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Possession of the required Asbestos Worker Certification at the time of hire or must successfully obtain and maintain within one year of employment.
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Must successfully complete a post offer employment test.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license to drive University Vehicles

  • Ability to use an electrical multimeter

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
  • Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entities
  • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
  • Must be available for occasional after-hours call ins weekday and weekends
  • Must be available for occasional assistance to Grounds Dept for snow removal
  • Perform occasional asbestos-related work, including collecting bulk samples of suspected asbestos; containing materials for laboratory analysis and occasionally performing small-scale glove-bag removals.
