About The Position

University Housing Facilities is looking for Facilities Technicians II to join our Team! Our Facilities Technicians II staff provide levels of service in the areas of grounds, trades, and/or maintenance for residents and guests. The primary function of the positions is for direct service requests in occupied residential spaces and for the ongoing repair/project work between occupancies related to upkeep of our residential and community spaces. Additionally, these positions are responsible for maintaining the safety and esthetics of 86 acres including greenspace, recreation areas, parking lots, roadways and 7 miles of sidewalks. They provide tree maintenance and monitor the health and safety of our trees to minimize property damage and risks to residents. In the winter, this team maintains all roadways, parking lots and sidewalks to ensure safe passage for residents. These positions are key to maintaining acceptable service standards for those who call University Housing home. Requirements

  • 1 year grounds, landscape maintenance, or snow removal
  • Drivers License – Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years of grounds, landscape maintenance, snow removal or related experience
  • Experience operating a skid steer for snow removal and/or landscape maintenance
  • Experience operating a F250 or 350 sized plow truck for snow removal
  • Experience with basic residential-related repairs

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
  • Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities under general supervision
  • Maintains interior and exterior facilities, grounds, and walkways, including interior and exterior routine repairs below the skilled/licensed trades level in occupied and vacant spaces.
  • Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
