About The Position

The Facilities Technician II position exists to provide services related to building and campus maintenance. This position requires occasional supervision and refers questionable matters to Tech III and/or supervisor. Must be able to perform all the requirements of the Facilities Technician I position. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in general maintenance. Works under moderate supervision, and gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific trade or discipline.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent plus construction trade school
  • 2-4 years of experience in building maintenance, or a building trade
  • Ability to read construction blueprints and understand specifications
  • Ability to diagnose, research and repair systems and failures as needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with employees in other departments
  • Ability to work independently without immediate supervision
  • Ability to operate various construction trades power and hand tools
  • Ability to occasionally operate heavy equipment, i.e., forklifts, tractors, large trucks
  • Must be able to pass a Post Offer Prehire Physical exam
  • Must be able to carry up to 70lbs
  • Must be able to lift up to 70lbs
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to walk 6 hours/day
  • Requires repetitive tasks/motions, good eye-hand-foot coordination, good manual dexterity, and able to distinguish colors
  • Must be able to hear alarms/phone/tape recorder/normal speaking voice
  • Frequently requires climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, crouching, balancing, and reaching above the head
  • Exposure to various conditions such as dust, fumes, and temperature extremes
  • Must be detail oriented, with a strong mechanical aptitude, able to perform multiple tasks
  • Must have an even temperament that allows for working in a high-pressure environment

  • ACAD ability a plus
  • Welding skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes campus wide preventative maintenance and predictive repairs
  • Works exclusively through the work order time, material, and asset tracking system
  • Maintains all tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks
  • Is responsible for keeping work, equipment, and construction areas clean and organized
  • Works in a team or independently on projects related to established priorities
  • Builds diagnostic level understanding of building systems and equipment
  • Is familiar with building system points of entry, shut off, and emergency response locations
  • Works with and provides access to vendors for various trades
  • Is an active participant in safety tasks and incident responses within the facilities area of expertise
  • Adheres to strict safety standards
  • Removes snow in response to snow events
  • Able to be driver for Focus equipment: trucks, tractors, plows, carts, front loader
  • Drives forklifts and pallet jacks in warehouse and office environment
  • Operates small and large equipment and tools
  • Performs other duties as assigned
