About The Position

The Facilities Technician I assists in the day-to-day operations and assumes responsibility for maintaining the conditions of Evergreen Goodwill stores, properties, and equipment. This role performs a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services, including electrical, plumbing, painting, and groundskeeping. The technician will also operate various vehicles and equipment, ensure safety protocols are followed, manage maintenance inventory, and provide customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or technical training certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred minimum 6 months or more experience or equivalent training.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance work, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and work independently.
  • Has strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team repairing items and processing work orders.
  • Must have valid WA State driver’s license and proof of good driving record.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers).
  • Ability to stand for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).
  • Ability to operate computer systems.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services.
  • Installs light bulbs, ballasts, countertops, tile, door hardware, carpet, bulletin boards, and fixtures; performs drywall repair, hangs pictures; assembles furniture.
  • Maintains and repairs light fixtures, receptacles, and switches; replaces light bulbs, generators, and motors; troubleshoots and makes electrical repairs not requiring a license.
  • Maintains and makes minor repairs to various types of heating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning equipment, pumps, fans, humidifiers, electric motors, and heat exchangers.
  • Paints interior and exterior walls and surfaces.
  • Replaces washers, faucets, and seals on malfunctioning plumbing equipment; repairs leaky faucets and cleans clogged drains; installs and repairs toilets.
  • Performs basic repair welding: Mig, Oxy Acetylene, Tig etc.
  • Performs ground maintenance including picking up trash and maintaining landscaping beds.
  • Operates light trucks/other vehicles and equipment: Work vans, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towing equipment.
  • Notifies management of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur.
  • Completes timely and accurate expense reports.
  • Provides customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in safe, clean, and proper working conditions.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Assists in managing maintenance inventory, keeping stock, supply, part, and material needs.
  • Maintains monthly inspection and maintenance of building HVAC filters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
