About The Position

This position is responsible for performing fabrication tasks within the Facilities department. The role involves reading blueprints, performing metal forming, bending, and finishing, and accurately measuring and cutting materials. The technician will identify and source correct materials for joining metals, select appropriate welding processes (MIG, TIG, ARC), and perform various welding repairs. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential. The role also includes checking finished work against blueprints for specified tolerances. Employees may be required to perform other job-related duties as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic problem-solving skills.
• Must be able and willing to work independently and as a team member in varying conditions (heat, cold, indoor/outdoor and heights up to 50 feet).
• Knowledge of proper PPE for each job performed.
• Knowledge of various welding techniques including MIG, TIG and Arc.
• Safety minded attitude.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to memorize the names and sizes of all rack types.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints prior to starting a project.
• Safely perform metal forming, bending, and finishing.
• Measure and cut materials to specifications.
• Identify and source correct materials required to join specific metals together.
• Identify the correct welding process to weld materials together.
• Cut and weld materials with a variety of processes to include MIG, TIG and ARC.
• Identify and perform a variety of welding repairs as needed.
• Communicate effectively, both with verbal and written communication.
• Check finished work to ensure that it falls within the tolerances as defined on the blueprints.
