About The Position

The Facilities Specialist I, under direct supervision, assists in the management of facilities and related services and programs. The position specializes in various aspects within the full spectrum from preventative maintenance to construction as well as services related to facility use (ie: audio/visual systems, building proctor, and after-hours emergency response). The position supports all aspects of a full-service facility management program to ensure a safe, healthy and comfortable work environment for employees and visitors.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 45 days of employment
  • Knowledge of safety procedures within the facilities maintenance industry
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications, audio/visual systems.
  • Knowledge of basic building / facilities maintenance skills including but not limited to: electrical / lighting repair, plumbing, HVAC repair and preventive maintenance, carpentry, and general building repair.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to promptly respond in person, on site, to after-hours building emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
  • Monitors heating and cooling systems with the BMS to ensure proper operation.
  • Performs inspections and maintenance of mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and vehicles to ensure safe and proper operations.
  • Operates and maintains landscape machinery, vehicles, and shop tools in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Performs and maintains work order requests as directed by the CMMS program.
  • Assist with purchase orders for parts, supplies, and equipment.
  • Serves as contact for after-hours building emergencies. Must be able to promptly respond in person
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
