About The Position

The Facilities Services Technician develops, coordinates, and manages facility service and preventive maintenance programs across Houchens retail locations. The position oversees recurring and multi-location programs intended to improve store conditions, extend asset life, reduce reactive maintenance, and provide consistent service across the organization. Programs may include HVAC filter replacement, lighting maintenance, high dusting and cleaning, floor care, pressure washing, roof and gutter maintenance, inspections, and other preventive facility services.

Success means programs are completed consistently, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards, helping reduce reactive repairs, extend asset life, and maintain clean, safe, well-maintained retail locations. The position supports the Director of Facilities with new facility programs and continuous improvement initiatives and travels throughout Houchens’ retail footprint as needed.

Requirements

• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
• Strong vendor communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to develop scopes of work, evaluate proposals, and manage projects to budget and schedule.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate program and financial records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and work order/project management systems.
• Ability to travel throughout Houchens’ retail footprint as needed.

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of project management, facilities, construction, property management, vendor management, or related experience.
• Experience coordinating projects or service programs across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage preventive maintenance and recurring facility service programs across Houchens retail locations.
• Coordinate program schedules, store participation, vendor assignments, and service frequencies.
• Develop scopes of work and service standards for multi-location facility programs.
• Solicit proposals, compare pricing, and assist with vendor selection and contract negotiations.
• Coordinate program rollouts with store operations, vendors, and Facilities.
• Track scheduled service completion and maintain required documentation.
• Monitor vendor performance, workmanship, response, and compliance with established scopes and service standards.
• Review invoices and validate completed work against contracted pricing and scope.
• Track program spending against established budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Analyze service history and facility needs to determine appropriate preventive maintenance frequencies.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate services, standardize specifications, and leverage Houchens’ scale across the retail portfolio.
• Conduct site visits and quality inspections as needed to verify program performance.
• Maintain program calendars, vendor information, service records, contracts, pricing, and performance reporting.
• Support the Director of Facilities with development of new facility programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
