About The Position

The Facilities Services Manager plays a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and well-maintained courthouse operations across multiple locations. This position oversees a variety of facilities-related projects and services, including building maintenance, renovations, space planning, emergency response coordination, and courthouse modernization initiatives. Working closely with court leadership, contractors, county agencies, and the Judicial Council, the Facilities Services Manager ensures projects are completed effectively, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations and operational needs. The role also provides leadership and guidance to facilities staff while managing budgets, coordinating vendors, and prioritizing both short- and long-term facility improvements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business administration, construction management, architecture design, or related field – AND – two (2) years of experience in facility management or construction management that includes supervision of subordinate staff for the duration of the (two) 2 years.
  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent -AND- six (6) years of experience in facility management or construction management that includes supervision of subordinate staff for the duration of the (six) 6 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management, facilities operations, custodial contract management, building systems, construction, or capital improvement projects, within a state or federal court preferred.
  • Court experience, while not a requirement, is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, safety, and building maintenance and practices.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and coordinate projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, construction documents, and building codes while applying sound independent judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Viseo or CAD software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee facilities management, custodial, construction, remodeling, and modernization projects across multiple court locations.
  • Support and coordinate Judicial Council of California (JCC) funded Facility Modification Projects.
  • Respond to and coordinate resolution of urgent and emergency facilities-related issues, including after-hours incidents.
  • Supervise, coach, and support facilities staff while monitoring performance, and project assignments.
  • Coordinate with contractors, Judicial Council representatives, county departments, and court stakeholders to ensure successful project execution while minimizing impact to court operations.
  • Develop scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules.
  • Trouble shoot issues that arise in the field.
  • Monitor contracts and projects to ensure compliance with applicable building and safety regulations.
