About The Position

Organization and completion of special construction projects. These projects will include but are not limited to: drywall, patching, taping, sanding, framing, cabinetry, and painting. This position has non-traditional hours based on workload and seasonal needs.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED or a 2- or 4-year college or technical degree.
Minimum of 5 years in the building trades.
Must be able to read blueprints.
Must have a current and valid Illinois driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Develop timetables and cost projections for construction projects, including short-term and long-term projects (6-12 months in the future).
Contribute to the long-term planning of campus projects and provide input to the Vice President of Facilities for capital budget planning.
Communicate with the Facilities Project Coordinator and Vice President of Facilities for work assignments, scheduling, and materials ordering.
Provide personal hand tools and equipment related to work in the facilities; complete assigned projects not requiring subcontractors, which may involve off-site, unsupervised work.
Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors at off-campus facilities and make contact with internal resources to accomplish project objectives.
Use computer skills to input purchase requisitions, correspond via email, develop spreadsheets, enter payroll, create project worksheets, and track work via CMMS.
Ensure all projects are constructed in accordance with specifications, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations of the State of Illinois.
Assist in administrative functions required to meet regulatory compliance.
Assist in quality assurance issues pertaining to all structures and properties falling under Facilities Maintenance.
Be accessible 24-7, 365 days a year via phone.
Enforce safety regulations and follow through on instructions pertaining to safety programs.
Monitor to ensure all local and state building and life safety codes are adhered to.
Successfully complete Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required.
Assist with other job-related duties or tasks as directed by management.
