About The Position

Organization and completion of special construction projects. These projects will include but are not limited to: drywall, patching, taping, sanding, framing, cabinetry, and painting. This position has non-traditional hours based on workload and seasonal needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or a 2- or 4-year college or technical degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the building trades.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must have a current and valid Illinois driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop timetables and cost projections for construction projects, including short-term and long-term projects (6-12 months in the future).
  • Contribute to the long-term planning of campus projects and provide input to the Vice President of Facilities for capital budget planning.
  • Communicate with the Facilities Project Coordinator and Vice President of Facilities for work assignments, scheduling, and materials ordering.
  • Provide personal hand tools and equipment related to work in the facilities; complete assigned projects not requiring subcontractors, which may involve off-site, unsupervised work.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors at off-campus facilities and make contact with internal resources to accomplish project objectives.
  • Use computer skills to input purchase requisitions, correspond via email, develop spreadsheets, enter payroll, create project worksheets, and track work via CMMS.
  • Ensure all projects are constructed in accordance with specifications, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations of the State of Illinois.
  • Assist in administrative functions required to meet regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in quality assurance issues pertaining to all structures and properties falling under Facilities Maintenance.
  • Be accessible 24-7, 365 days a year via phone.
  • Enforce safety regulations and follow through on instructions pertaining to safety programs.
  • Monitor to ensure all local and state building and life safety codes are adhered to.
  • Successfully complete Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required.
  • Assist with other job-related duties or tasks as directed by management.
