About The Position

Caterpillar is hiring a Facilities Project Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical facilities engineering workstream for a new advanced manufacturing campus in Sanford, North Carolina. The role spans initial requirements and design coordination through supplier selection, construction, installation, system integration, commissioning, startup, issue resolution, and operational handoff. The engineer will lead consultants, design firms, and contractors; coordinate internal and external specialists; and ensure deliverables meet Caterpillar requirements. The position requires connecting electrical systems and other facility functions into a safe, complete, production-ready operation. The engineer will work with Manufacturing, Legal, Accounting, Purchasing, Information Technology, Safety, and other partners to resolve dependencies and keep the project moving, while giving leadership clear updates on progress, risks, decisions, and system integration. The electrical focus includes facility infrastructure such as power distribution, automation controls, and equipment integration; capacity planning, protection systems, energy management, advanced metering, and digital facility solutions; and oversight of commissioning, startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role is onsite five days per week, with work locations potentially shifting between temporary offices during the transition to the new facility. Travel of 50–75% may be required at certain stages. Schedule flexibility is needed to meet project requirements. Domestic US relocation is available; visa sponsorship is not available.
