About The Position

Caterpillar is hiring a Facilities Project Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical facilities engineering workstream for a new advanced manufacturing campus in Sanford, North Carolina. The role will guide work from initial requirements and design coordination through supplier selection, construction, installation, system integration, commissioning, startup, issue resolution, and handoff to operations. The engineer will lead consultants, engineering design firms, and contractors; coordinate internal and external specialists; and ensure that deliverables meet Caterpillar requirements and support a safe, complete, production-ready facility. The position coordinates with Manufacturing, Legal, Accounting, Purchasing, Information Technology, Safety, and other partners to resolve dependencies and maintain project progress. It provides leadership with clear updates on progress, risks, decisions, and system integration. The electrical focus includes designing, implementing, and operating facility electrical infrastructure such as power distribution, automation controls, and equipment integration, while supporting capacity planning, protection systems, energy management, advanced metering, digital facility solutions, commissioning, startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role is onsite in Sanford, North Carolina, five days per week, with possible work from temporary offices during the transition to the new facility. Travel of 50–75% may be required at certain points in the project. The selected candidate should have schedule flexibility to meet project requirements. Domestic U.S. relocation is available; visa sponsorship is not available.
