Facilities Principal Mechanical Engineer

GlobalFoundries•Malta, NY
•$85,000 - $146,000

About The Position

GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking a skilled and motivated engineer for a Facilities Engineering position in the Facilities Department, focused on Mechanical Operations and Maintenance. The role supports the ongoing operation of facilities systems at the company’s 300mm wafer fabrication facility in Malta, New York, and ensures those systems maintain regulatory compliance and meet City, State, and Federal guidelines. The engineer will lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce operating costs. The primary focus is the Central Utility Building (CUB), including chilled water and hot water house systems. The role includes engineering evaluations and hands-on maintenance for a chilled water plant exceeding 60,000 tons, as well as working with technicians to maintain smaller refrigeration units, including rooftop units and production tooling. Potential ownership may extend to other facilities systems, such as cleanroom air quality, scrubbed exhaust, and process cooling water. The engineer will manage service vendor relationships, coordinate with Global Supply Chain on contracts and pricing, and serve as a subject matter expert in design reviews. The position also supports design review and approval, equipment installation, commissioning, construction, startup, and tool utility turn-on activities. It uses systems including SAP PM, SPC, and FMCS, and involves preventive maintenance, standard operating procedures, operational data analysis, problem solving, FMEA and HAZOP analysis, and weekly management reporting.
