Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Five years of progressively related experience in construction, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or building maintenance including four years of supervising employees in construction, plumbing, mechanics, electrical or building maintenance
  • Must possess Specialist Boilers license or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Must possess 2-C Boilers license or have the ability to obtain within 2 years of obtaining Specialist Boilers license
  • Must possess a valid Minnesota Class “D” Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Applications
  • All employees are required to reside within the state of Minnesota.

  • Experience working with keycard security systems and software
  • Experience with Building Automation software
  • Knowledge of operating requirements, safety precautions, preventative and general facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of construction methods.
  • Knowledge of creating and using blueprints, drawings, models, and plans.
  • Knowledge of preventative and general facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and requirements.
  • Ability to operate various equipment, hand tools, and portable power tools.
  • Ability to coordinate the work and activities of others.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical knowledge and support for projects and staff.
  • Manages preventative maintenance projects; repairs and replaces equipment used in the facilities to provide a safe and secure environment for County employees and the Public.
  • Creates project and work schedules to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Prioritizes and assigns work orders.
  • Assists with the maintenance and cleaning of grounds, buildings and facilities.
  • Schedules and assists with snow removal.
  • Maintains inventory to ensure supplies are available as needed.
  • Collaborates with inspectors to approve work and correct deficiencies.
  • Installs construction and maintenance items to assist with completion of projects.
  • Monitors and assists outside vendors doing work on County buildings.
  • Maintains and repairs the card reader and energy management systems.
  • Performs documentation for projects and records.
  • Interprets blueprints and drawings for new construction and department projects.
  • Collects and maintains reports regarding equipment data, and equipment schematics; inspects on-site construction conditions.
  • Ensures that safety policies and procedures are followed by employees and the general public around construction sites.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, evaluates performance, and disciplines employees.
  • Assists with preparation of the department budget.
  • Attends work in a regular and timely manner.
  • Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
