About The Position

Renaissance Secondary School is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and safety of our school campus. This role ensures that the building, grounds, and essential systems are well-maintained, compliant, and ready to support a high-quality learning environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks and working both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform regular bending, standing, walking, and lifting

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or operations preferred
  • Leadership experience in an educational environment.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and delegation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and Infinite Campus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preventative maintenance and repairs for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary contact for facilities vendors and coordinate service scheduling and follow-up.
  • Manage and track work orders, maintenance requests, and completion timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, fire, occupancy, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee custodial services and ensure daily cleanliness and campus readiness.
  • Ensure maintenance of school grounds including landscaping, snow removal, sidewalks, and exterior upkeep.
  • Operate and maintain basic grounds and maintenance equipment.
  • Support facility setup and breakdown for school events and activities.
  • Manage door access systems, basic building systems (bell system), and security camera support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Perform basic hands-on maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Promote and maintain a positive and effective school culture by ensuring that all interactions with staff, students, parents, and the public at large are prompt, efficient, helpful, and friendly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including student supervision.
  • Ensure all snow and ice is removed from walkways and other areas.
  • Support all District Sustainability Policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Ensure a clean Facility by completing all tasks outlined in the current Custodial Cleaning Specifications.
  • Support Supervisor in setting up for groups and special events or activities by staff or outside usage in a timely and correct manner.
  • Ensure the general security of buildings, including closing and locking doors and windows.
  • Ensure a maintained building by reporting maintenance issues / general maintenance of all equipment used.
