About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to coordinate and manage building maintenance, grounds keeping, and security for multiple facilities and locations. This role involves supervising staff, overseeing maintenance and repair functions, managing security, and handling vendor relations and budgeting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public/Business Administration, a field related to assigned operation, or equivalent technical experience and certification.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in area of assignment.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, including developing work schedules, approving timesheets, and addressing employee concerns.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work to subordinates, ensuring they have the necessary resources and monitoring work progress.
  • Inspects and evaluates buildings, systems, and facilities to determine maintenance needs and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Develops maintenance schedules and manages preventive/corrective maintenance activities.
  • Supervises labor/repair functions such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and construction/remodeling.
  • Troubleshoots problems with department buildings, grounds, facilities, and related systems.
  • Coordinates with vendors or other County departments to ensure timely repairs and services.
  • Manages security for all department facilities, including developing evacuation and safety plans, and responding to security alarms.
  • Solicits and secures services from third-party providers, including soliciting quotes and bids, reviewing vendor qualifications, and preparing cost estimates.
  • Manages and supervises miscellaneous functions such as courier services, vehicle maintenance, and insurance coverage.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the department budget, monitors expenditures, and prepares estimates for maintenance projects.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures.
