About The Position

The City of Farmington is seeking a Library Facilities Custodian to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of the Library, its grounds, and related facilities. This is a temporary, part-time position that requires a flexible and varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role involves maintaining good working relationships, keeping records, performing minor maintenance, and potentially serving on committees or operating a motor vehicle for departmental business. Compliance with all library and city policies and guidelines is essential.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record for past three years.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.
• Knowledge of building maintenance including housekeeping and janitorial procedures and ability to operate the related equipment.
• Ability to learn how to correctly mix various cleaning solutions, and use the correct solution for the correct purpose.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.
• Pre-employment physical and/or drug/alcohol test is required.
• Background check is required.
• Must participate in and comply with the City's Environmental, Health, and Safety Program.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of janitorial products and application procedures is desirable.
• Ability to make minor repairs to facility and equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of the Library, its grounds, and related facilities.
• Maintain good working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel, and the public.
• Maintain organized work area and monitor supplies.
• Keeps records as required by the Library.
• May perform minor maintenance on equipment.
• May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.
• May operate a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
• Complies with all circulation and library procedures and policies, and the City guidelines, rules, regulation, procedures, and policies.
