About The Position

The Iowa Veterans Home is seeking a Facilities Management Bureau Chief to lead the team responsible for maintaining and improving our 150 acre campus while ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for Iowa’s veterans, visitors, and staff. This senior level leadership position oversees facility operations, maintenance, construction and renovation projects, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and providing leadership to the Facility Management supervisory team. This position will also include assisting the Iowa Veterans Cemetery when needed.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to four years of full-time work in program administration, development, management, or operations.
• Eight years of full-time work experience in program administration, development, management, or operations.
• Four years of full-time work experience in program administration, development, management, or operations, combined with a total of four years of education and full-time experience (where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience). Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of full-time experience or education.
• Two years of full-time work experience in program administration, development, management, or operations, combined with a total of four years of education and full-time experience (where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework equals one year of full-time experience), and a total of two years of graduate-level education and full-time experience (where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in a public-service-related area equals one year of full-time experience). Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of full-time experience or education.
• Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Public Service Supervisor or comparable specific management-level position.

Responsibilities

• Oversees facility operations, maintenance, construction and renovation projects, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and providing leadership to the Facility Management supervisory team.
• Assisting the Iowa Veterans Cemetery when needed.
