About The Position

Maintains College facilities by performing general building maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repairs. This role also involves maintaining and repairing floors, ceiling tiles and walls, gathering confidential documents for shredding, performing function set-ups, and assisting other departments with moving furniture and equipment. The technician will use various hand tools, portable power tools, and equipment, and may operate a forklift and/or backhoe if certified.

Requirements

• High School Diploma plus completion of a certificate program or additional specialized training.
• Three to five years' experience in a related field.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Valid NC driver's license.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to meet mobility requirements.
• Ability to occasionally move materials of up to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to access print material and utilize the information effectively.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment as required.
