About The Position

This semi-skilled manual work position in general facilities, custodial, and labor activities supports the buildings and grounds. The position also represents a potential entry-level job into the maintenance department pending the results of the standardized mechanical aptitude test.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have 2-3 years of general labor, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to follow oral, written, and repetitive instructions.
  • Make troubleshooting/repair recommendations to maintenance Supervisor.
  • Integrate Safe work practices into every new task assigned and learn new safe behaviors from senior maintenance technicians. Apply learned behaviors to new assignments.
  • Must be able to crawl, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., climb, and work at/or up to 50ft. in height. Must be able to stand most or all of shift in a wide range of temperatures.
  • Develop and present training and communication sessions for the department related to new, modified, or facility operations familiar to F-Tech issues to share best practices.
  • Must possess troubleshooting and communication skills, mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate various equipment, ability to use hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in caring for grounds and facility requiring minimal knowledge, skills and abilities. Such work might include changing light fixtures, hanging pictures, storing files, setup and/or take-down of tables, clean-out refrigerator/freezer, empty trash cans, etc.
  • Understand basic personal computer operations including sending and receiving e-mail messages. Understand and demonstrate the ability to effectively access computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) to retrieve work order assignments and enter feedback or historical data necessary to document work performed.
  • Maintain floor sweeper operational condition by implementing user-level filter and brush replacements, along with minor repairs as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Sweep aisles, walkways, and underneath equipment as time permits or need requires.
  • Provide operational support by delivering supplies as needed to various departmental supervisors as needed.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals in limited amounts to clean surfaces. Exposure to paints, coatings, and adhesives applications.
  • Demonstrate customer focus by maintaining a neat and clean work area during both localized and shop-area projects.
  • Willingness to assist fellow associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
