About The Position

As the Facilities Maintenance Technician 2, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, responding to guest room maintenance requests, repairing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, and supporting the overall upkeep of resort facilities. This role involves performing engineering projects, guest calls, blitzes, and preventive maintenance as directed by resort management. You will troubleshoot plumbing issues, make repairs, and replace fixtures and piping as needed. You will also diagnose, replace, and repair minor electrical components such as receptacles and ballasts, and troubleshoot and repair appliances and household fixtures. Understanding HVAC systems and performing basic preventive maintenance and diagnostics is also a key part of this role. Additionally, you will repair interior and exterior walls, wall coverings, and ceilings, including texturing, painting, and caulking, and repair or replace tiles, grout, vinyl, and carpet as required. Work with pools, spas, and water features, including chemical balancing and cleaning tasks is also expected. You will participate actively in procurement and inventory processes to ensure materials and tools are available for work and operate resort operations devices and software effectively (HotSOS and other applicable systems). Communication is key, and you will communicate professionally through radios, phones, emails, and verbal interactions. You will perform maintenance and cleaning tasks as required by resort management, safely use hand tools, power tools, and battery-powered tools, and work using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and appropriate PPE. Following safety guidelines and practices, recognizing and identifying potential safety hazards, and communicating and interpreting guest needs through positive interactions toward resolution are essential. You will adhere to all CFI/Westgate Resorts policies and procedures and always represent Westgate Resorts professionally through appearance, attire, and behavior. Other tasks as assigned by resort operations leadership will also be part of your responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in trades and maintenance within a resort or commercial environment.
  • Universal EPA certification is required.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and conversing in English is required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move, push and/or pull up to 50+ pounds.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with enthusiasm and focus.
  • Strong communication skills required to excel in interactions with guests and colleagues.
  • Ability to be versatile, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates are required to pass a background check, drug test, and demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) license is preferred but not required.
