About The Position

Lead and develop a maintenance department to ensure the highest possible level of efficiency of physical assets and building structures. Applying strategies, policies, and procedures based on industry knowledge and experience while guiding members of the department to maintain assets correctly to ensure that assets are operating at the peak of their capabilities in an efficient and compliant manner while adhering to all applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of industrial facilities maintenance experience
  • 7+ year of experience in a lead, supervisor, management, or leadership role
  • Expert knowledge of food and beverage industry preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong practice in scheduling, hiring duties, and administrative management.
  • Advanced leadership skills and capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills as well as leadership ability to manage staff and vendors effectively.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
  • Ability to manage equipment orders, shipments, and inventory.
  • Advanced computer skills and familiarity with computer programs such as a CMMS or an EAM.
  • Understanding and practice of automated building systems including energy management systems (EMS), fire/security systems, lighting as required of OSHA & NEC as well as other local code requirements.
  • Skill in evaluating construction work in progress, including plans, feasibility studies, specifications, cost estimates and completed work.
  • Practice of negotiating contracts and construction warranty disputes.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and conduct complex repairs.
  • Expert knowledge of equipment systems troubleshooting and repair.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, contractors, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to analyze and manage budgets and other technical reports.
  • Strong Knowledge of modern diversified architectural and engineering principles, methods, theories, practices, and standards including green building best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact and liaison for the Facilities Department and senior management.
  • Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of facilities management including but not limited to property management, project management, maintenance, housekeeping, security, health & safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance adhering to USDA and FDA guidelines, as well as GMP, OSHA and EPA compliance.
  • Responsible for developing and executing long-term plans for space utilization and facility renovations/improvements in alignment with UDA’s strategic goals.
  • Responsible for developing multi-year capital improvement plans, managing budgets, overseeing renovations and repairs, coordinating maintenance schedules, and overseeing the work of contractors.
  • Proactive planning, scheduling, and oversight of repair and installation activities ensuring that Food Safety and Security is maintained.
  • Coordination and collaboration with other departments to ensure their needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Managing inventory of spare parts and equipment for onsite staff to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Understanding and practice of automated building systems including energy management systems (EMS), fire/security systems, lighting as required of OSHA & NEC as well as other local code requirements.

  • Hire, train and develop a Facilities Maintenance staff that will be capable of executing facilities and building repair tasks that will meet all building codes as well as health and safety regulations.
  • Actively participate in plant safety efforts including conducting incident reports, mitigation of project risks, and technician safety.
  • Strong customer service orientation with ability to establish rapport across diverse groups at all levels within the organization along with excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects and prioritize maintenance requests by level of impact.
  • Ensure repairs are tracked and logged into the UDA CMMS system and provide regular updates to maintenance and management team.
  • Regularly provide prompt and detailed technical guidance for a variety of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration conditions.
  • Creates predictive, preventive and reliability-based maintenance systems as well as procedures to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators including production uptime, budget adherence, schedule compliance.
