About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Labourer is responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior of the building by making repairs or supporting contractors for repairs. The Facilities Maintenance Labourer is responsible to assist AHCA departments as needed for various tasks. The Facilities Maintenance Labourer is also responsible for delivering and picking up packages, assisting contractors, painting, simple metal fabrication and sanitation/grounds maintenance. The Facilities Maintenance Labourer will troubleshoot and perform repairs on equipment.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School
  • Licenced or certification in a related Technical Field
  • 3 (three ) years’ experience in facilities maintenance
  • Driver’s license required
  • Knowledge of all power tools, hand tools, snow removal and lawn maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Able to multitask and prioritize
  • Able to work independently and as part of team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Assists Health & Safety and Site Security in the event of an emergency

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Forklift, overhead crane, welding, and mechanical experience would all be an asset
  • Knowledge in Electrical/Electronic/pneumatic and Hydraulic is an asset
  • Ability to read blueprints and equipment schematics an asset
  • Proficiency in computer skills/use of digital tools for Preventative Maintenance
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Google Suite is an asset
  • Excellent social skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the Facility and Property
  • Monitor systems throughout the plant and replace/fix when necessary
  • Fabricate/weld items that can help with the operation of the plant
  • Monitor heating and cooling systems—Adjust only when necessary
  • Plumbing
  • Supporting contractors when further help is needed for maintenance
  • Close preventative maintenance tickets as per monthly requirements
  • Performs various repairs as needed to maintain a safe work environment as requested by the Health and Safety Committee
  • As an active member of the Spill Response Team, the Maintenance Mechanic is required to aid the team by cleaning and removing hazardous chemical spills/leaks in accordance to set procedures
  • Assist AHCA Employees with Tasks
  • Emptying and cleaning out rinse tanks to ensure materials go to the proper waste area
  • Building shipping crates
  • Complete employee facility tickets
  • Deliver and pick up parcels on behalf of the company
  • Assist Contractors
  • Accompany contractors while they are repairing machines, conducting inspections or estimating quotes for jobs
  • Operating fork lift/crane for contractors in order for them to complete their jobs
  • Maintain Facility Grounds
  • Remove snow from the parking area, fire lanes, shipping, and walkways
  • Add salt to icy surfaces to prevent accidents/falls
  • Cleaning and clearing pavement of debris and removing any litter from property and flight area
  • Ensuring landscaping is well maintained by trimming trees, mowing lawn and gardening
