About The Position

The HVAC Technician II performs advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, and corrective repairs to ensure optimal system performance for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This position requires strong technical knowledge in applicable systems. The role reports to the Facilities Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and be able to pass a background check
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Registered Agent Card
  • HVAC certification or relevant vocational training.
  • Minimum of 6-11 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair.
  • Comfortable working in environments with high humidity, strong plant odors, and fluctuating temperatures
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and components.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Experience with commercial HVAC systems.

  • Computer literacy for using diagnostic tools and software.
  • EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, and split systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC systems malfunctions involving electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues during regular business hours and emergency calls off-hours.
  • Install and commission new HVAC equipment and components, including ductwork, in accordance with safety codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all maintenance, repairs, and installations, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of refrigerants.
  • Oversee and inspect work performed by HVAC Technician I's and/or external contractors to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Interact with clients, building occupants, and colleagues in a professional and courteous manner. Provide excellent customer service and address any questions or concerns.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and chemicals. Promote a safe working environment.
