About The Position

The Facilities Attendants are responsible for supporting the operation and cleanliness of the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre, and other facilities. This role involves providing information, making sound decisions related to facility upkeep and safety, completing tasks using proper procedures, and promoting good public relations. Key duties include ice maintenance, custodial cleaning, setting up rooms, assisting user groups, and communicating professionally with various stakeholders. The position also emphasizes a commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

Requirements

  • At minimum high school diploma in progress
  • Candidates must have their own safety boots
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) and Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a rink setting and work related to ice maintenance
  • Pool and custodial experience.
  • Experience with a floor machine, swing buffer

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, accurate information to Supervisors, Facilities Operations and respond to their decisions and directions.
  • Make sound and safe decisions as it relates to the upkeep of the facilities, personal behaviour, and health and safety.
  • Complete tasks using proper procedures and escalate to Supervisors where required.
  • Promote good public relations giving the City of Belleville a positive public image.
  • Assist in maintaining the facility through ice maintenance and custodial cleaning such as cleaning bathrooms, mopping, dusting, sweeping, garbage collection and removal, clearing clutter, snow, and ice ensuring entrances are clear, moving nets, shoveling snow from ice surface, and glass cleaning.
  • Complete setups in meeting rooms, common areas, arenas, gym space, and other duties as required, involving staging, chairs, tables, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist the user groups utilizing the building facilities without hindrance to general duties.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, tenants, contractors, and members of the general public, promoting a high standard of customer service.
  • Perform all tasks and responsibilities through the lens of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, ensuring commitment to fairness, representation, accessibility and respect for diverse perspectives and cultures in all aspects of work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
