About The Position

The Kentucky Derby Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization located at Churchill Downs Racetrack. It is a major attraction in the Louisville region, celebrating the history and tradition of the Kentucky Derby. The Museum hosts over 230,000 visitors annually, many from outside Kentucky and even internationally.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the general maintenance and cleanliness of the Museum, as well as to support the setup for special events. This role reports to the Director of Facilities and does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk up and down stairs, and work in inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret written information.
• Possess a friendly attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to sufficiently pass a criminal background check.
• Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to handle stress and pressure of a high volume of visitors and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Sets up rooms for day, night, and evening events.
• Cleans and maintains the facility, including bathrooms, trash disposal, vacuuming, and painting.
• Performs tasks on the special projects list.
• Opens and closes the museum.
