About The Position

The Facilities Apprentice Maintenance Engineer assists in the daily operations and activities of the maintenance engineers, providing administrative and technical support as directed by department management. This role is crucial for maintaining the excitement, diversity, and entertainment that MGM Resorts International is known for, contributing to unique and show-stopping guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Experience in a similar position within a hotel, casino, resort, or large-scale facility environment.
  • Hands-on experience using industrial hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and monitoring devices.
  • Proven ability to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in luxury hospitality, high-end hotel operations, or gaming industry settings preferred.
  • Experience working in a resort-style environment with a strong focus on guest service and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations and activities of maintenance engineers.
  • Provide administrative and technical support as directed by department management.
  • Maintain proactive attention to safety, including keeping work area clean and orderly.
  • Report all guest incidents and cooperate with security for a timely resolution.
  • Perform maintenance duties including machinery installation, machine repair, and physical structure repair work.
  • Utilize electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fabrication, and welding skills.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Inspect all equipment prior to use and report any discrepancies immediately.
  • Work with and read precision measuring devices, circuit diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
  • Provide emergency scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance of production equipment during production.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Identify and utilize required tools and special equipment.
  • Work with low and medium AC and DC voltages (12 to 480 VAC).
  • Read and understand blueprints, including specifications for all fixtures and furniture.
  • Inventory all equipment and parts to ensure par levels are met.
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of emergency procedures throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of hotel rules and regulations, including OSHA safety rules.
  • Operate scissor and boom lifts and climb ladders to access elevated areas.
  • Drive/operate company vehicles to and from various properties.
