About The Position

Supports the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of the Anchorage Public Library (APL) facilities. Works with the Facilities Coordinator to ensure that library buildings are in optimal condition by monitoring facility tickets, working with the Municipal facilities department and contracted staff, and performing direct facility support. Helps create a welcoming and secure atmosphere by monitoring the safety of patrons, staff, and visitors using library buildings. Works cooperatively with contracted security personnel to enforce the Code of Conduct and assists in investigation and documentation of infractions. Monitors daily operations in the Loussac Library and branches for health and security best practices. Fosters a pleasant, helpful environment, builds relationships, monitors policy compliance, and assists patrons and staff with facility and safety concerns. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position.
  • OR Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two ( 2 ) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four ( 4 ) years of experience in the field related to the position.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400) at time of hire.
  • Personal suitability qualifications commonly required by any employee occupying a position in any class, such as good character, loyalty, honesty, demeanor, industry, amenability to supervision, and willingness to cooperate with associates shall be qualifications required for each position.

  • AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
