About The Position

The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture (Foundation House) is a leading organization dedicated to providing specialist trauma-focused services to refugees, their families, and communities who have experienced torture and other traumatic events. Foundation House emphasizes the critical link between service quality and positive client outcomes, ensuring safe, person-centered, effective, and connected care. The Practice Excellence Area is central to maintaining the highest standards of service delivery, aligning with the organization's purpose and priorities. This area leads the design, delivery, and implementation of practice development support and programs for all staff, and designs and delivers external training to support the sector in delivering trauma-informed care. It also coordinates quality improvement initiatives and performance measures to inform ongoing practice excellence.

Requirements

  • Post-graduate qualification in Psychology, Social work and/or other related disciplines.
  • Advanced experience in design and delivery of professional learning programs, including experience in designing curriculum, training materials, and assessment tools informed by adult learning principles and contemporary instructional design methods.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice frameworks, preferably within refugee and asylum seeker contexts.
  • Proven ability to translate complex theory and evidence into accessible, practical learning content for diverse professional workforces.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning in both online and in-person environments, using interactive and reflective methods suitable for varied participant groups.
  • Experience developing and applying evaluation frameworks for professional learning programs, including pre- and post-assessment, impact measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • High-level organisational and administrative skills, including accurate record-keeping, data management, and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and engage diverse professional audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and facilitate high-quality professional development training programs for a diverse range of external stakeholders across the sector, including health, education, community services, and other organizations working with refugee background communities, and for VFST staff.
  • Contribute to the identification of training needs, design, content development, and facilitation for calendared and tailored professional and organizational development training programs.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate a broad range of professional learning and advanced practice activities (including training sessions, workshops, webinars, online modules, practice seminars, communities of practice, lectures, conference presentations, and reflective practice sessions) grounded in adult learning principles and tailored to diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methods to ensure training content is relevant, responsive, and aligned with organizational needs assessments and pre-learning diagnostics.
  • Provide expert advice on training content, curriculum design, and evaluation frameworks including delivering training, coaching, and mentoring in training design, development, and facilitation to strengthen organizational capacity.
