About The Position

The Facilitator - GT Secondary position is responsible for managing the Gifted and Talented (GT) identification process and documenting services provided to GT students on the secondary campus. This role involves coordinating identification procedures, ensuring adherence to TEA rules, maintaining student records, and serving as a liaison between the district GT office and the campus. The facilitator will also support campus staff and teachers with GT program-related issues, monitor student progress, and promote GT opportunities and events.

Requirements

  • Certified Texas Teacher
  • 30 hours of GT Required Training
  • GT Certificate preferred
  • Secondary teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the G/T identification process at the campus, including disseminating information and screening results to parents, staff, and students.
  • Research and collect student data, arrange for and/or administer necessary testing, and serve on the Campus Selection Committee.
  • Adhere to published screening and reporting deadlines.
  • Convey TEA rules and guidelines to the campus as needed.
  • Publicize opportunities for GT screenings, orientations, and parent meetings.
  • Establish/maintain accurate student records related to GT identification and GT service.
  • Verify PEIMS data on designated timeline throughout the school year.
  • Serve as PEIMS input person for GT data in student management system.
  • Consult with counselors regarding scheduling, student placement and verification of student placement.
  • Work with counselors to verify accurate scheduling of student services.
  • Communicate with parents about the GT program and respond to questions and concerns.
  • Serve as a liaison between the district GT office and the campus.
  • Distribute information to the campus staff, students, teachers and parents as requested by the GT/AAS department.
  • Attend GT facilitator meetings as scheduled.
  • Provide information about GT professional development requirements and opportunities to campus staff.
  • Provide support and serve as a resource for teachers on issues related to the GT program.
  • Monitor GT student academic progress and facilitate academic interventions as needed.
  • Apprise students of curriculum options and enrichment opportunities outside the school day.
  • Serve as an advocate for gifted children.
  • Consult with the principal with regard to all of the above upon request.
  • Promote and support KPGT programs and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
