About The Position

This position, titled Curriculum Coach, assists teachers in school buildings with instruction through modeling, observation, feedback, and coaching. The incumbent will actively participate as a member of the Curriculum and Instructional Design team, supporting curriculum, curriculum development, staff development, instruction, and assessments related to particular content skills across all content areas. Key aspects of the role include providing support to schools regarding curriculum, staff development, instruction, and assessment, as well as developing and presenting professional development aligned with adult learning theory. Collaboration with all members of the Learning Services Division is essential. The specialist will coordinate professional development, curriculum development, and assessments, while continuously maintaining and broadening knowledge of current educational research in curriculum and instruction. Responsibilities also involve facilitating New Teacher Orientation and New Teacher Induction for the particular content area, conducting data collection including assessment data, teacher, and student interviews, and performing data analysis. The role supports district interdisciplinary programs as appropriate, and involves developing and aligning the district's particular content area curriculum standards and programs. Maintaining communications with KSDE curriculum representatives regarding standards, assessment practices, and state initiatives related to the content area is also required. The specialist will lead professional development associated with instruction and district initiatives, which may include coaching conversations, small group activities, and large group presentations. Collaboration with other Curriculum Coaches for PK-12 articulation of curriculum and active participation in new teacher induction teams and monthly teacher support meetings, such as high school department chair meetings, are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Kansas Teaching License
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience

  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator
  • Report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position

  • Assists with additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.
