About The Position

The Fabricator operates fabricating machines to create structural steel products used in industrial automation. This role is responsible for operating fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment, such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches, to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures. The position requires reading job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements, setting stops or guides to specified length, positioning workpiece against stops or aligning layout marks with die or blade, measuring workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation, detecting workpiece defects and machine malfunctions, removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from workpiece, and performing minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, die, or workpieces. Requirements

Must be able to read exact measurements on a tape measure without assistance
Must be able to read blueprints
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred
Ability to read blueprints
Knowledge of standard and metric measurements
Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques
Self-motivated and detail-oriented
Team orientation
LOTO certification required
Crane operation certification required
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
